It's been a while, but I just recently got in a great run at the beach. 12 miles in fact, which is quite a few miles for me. I ran 10 on the boardwalk and just about 2 on the beach.
I use to run on the board walk in the Asbury/Belmar area all the time but it has been a few years since I ran this long there. One of the funny things about the run was how much fast I felt on the way back. I remember thinking that running on the boards should be easier. The way back was quick though.

There were a lot of people running there. I felt like I needed to remind my self not to wave at everyone. Generally when I run at home I do not see to many other runners where I go. With that sometimes I would get a little thrown off when I was running a similar speed to someone else near me. In that case I would speed up a bit and then run my pace farther ahead so we weren't running next to each other.
Something that was pretty cool was seeing one of my regular customers running past me. I know not upper exciting, but it was cool to see someone I know. I just basically said "Hey".
After I was at around the 10 mile mark (a little over), I took off my shoes and ran on the beach. I did just about 2 miles on the beach. It was funny how non efficient I felt running on the beach, but my pace did not suffer too much.

I though about taking a dip in the ocean after but I decide to skip that and just get my legs wet. I got a drink from the water fountain and a quick beach shower and that was the day. It was a good time running at the beach.
